Specialty "Food Technology" was opened in 1997/1998 academic year, when a half-higher Institute - Yambol was transformed into a Technical College. The specialty has been accredited by a decision of the National Agency for Assessment and Accreditation (NAAA) to the Council of Ministers from 22.12.2006 for a period of 6 years.
The main purpose of teaching in "Food Technology" is to train highly qualified and wide-profile specialists, having a solid fundamental, technological and specialized training, for the food industry necessity.
Professors and associate professors from the Trakia University - Stara Zagora, University of Food Technologies - Plovdiv, Rousse University etc., take an active part in training students of "Food Technology" at the Technical College – Yambol.
Since the 2008-2009 academic year, graduates receive a degree "Professional Bachelor" and through regular and correspondence courses may continue their studies to degree "Master".
The student mobility within the framework in related disciplines in the country is guaranteed by the proximity of the curriculum. More than 68% of graduate students each year continue their education in UFT - Plovdiv.
For the training of students in "Food Technology" is using two computer rooms, 4 specialized laboratories for exercises of general technical skills and 2 laboratories for laboratory and practical exercises on special subjects. There are conditions for multimedia and e-learning.
Ensure free access to library and computer labs provide a greater opportunity for students to work independently, which maintain their interest in the study subjects and makes them active participants in the learning process.

Students of "Food Technology" are able to include to Erasmus Programme for student mobility. Trakia University - Stara Zagora, participate in the program since 1999 and in 2007 received an Extended Erasmus University Charter. Activities of student and teacher mobility and the introduction of the European credit transfer fully consistents with the stated European policy of the University and his plan for strategic development.
Wide-profile and profound knowledge in the field of food technologies, give a possibility to successfully carry out the production - technological and organizational - managing activity in the branches of food industry - grain, fodder, bread and confectionery products; milk and dairy products; meat, fish and egg products; canning and refrigeration technology.
A diplomaed technologist can perform managerial and executive roles in companies in the food industry in the refrigeration sector and commercially; to control and manage the quality of raw materials, materials, semi-manufactured goods and the finished products in the food production.
